Terence Young

erence Young, Member of Parliament for Oakville, is the founder and Chair of Drug Safety Canada, a research and public advocacy organization based in Oakville.  He has been active in issues related to prescription drug safety since March 2000, after losing his fifteen your old daughter Vanessa to the Johnson & Johnson prescription drug Prepulsid.  He has been quoted in numerous media interviews and has appeared on TVO, CBC and CBC radio.  Terence’s presentations make considerable impact wherever he appears, including University of British Columbia, University of Toronto, The Rotman School of business and with various community groups.  Terence’s new book, “Death by Prescription,” is scheduled to be published in the spring of 2009 by Canadian publishing house Key Porter. He is currently the Member of Parliament for Oakville. Terence Young was the Member of Provincial Parliament for north Oakville (“Halton Centre”) from 1995 until the riding boundaries changed in 1999.  When elected in 1995, he won the riding of Halton Centre by over 16,000 votes – the fourth largest plurality in Ontario. Terence was elected to the House of Commons in the 2008 federal election, and has many years of experience in business, community and political arenas. Terence has been President of Policy Alliance, a consulting firm that specializes in Government Relations and Strategic Communications.  Clients include: hospitals, social service agencies, arts groups and high-tech companies. Terence holds a B.A. in political and social science from York University.
