K ai Wright, BSc, MSHE, is the Administrative Coordinator of the grant-funded Developing Nurses’ Cultural Competencies: Evidence-Based and Best Practices project at the University of Michigan-Flint’s Department of Nursing. Kai earned her Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Toronto and has a Master of Science degree in Health Education from the University of Michigan-Flint. Kai works with the grant team in the planning and implementation of educational programs for nurses and other health care professionals. She supports nursing faculty members and staff with research related literature reviews and relevant health information. She is responsible for the creation of marketing materials, coordination of education sessions and meetings, and for budget and record reconciliation and keeping. Kai Wright has over 5 years of administrative experience, all of which have been in culturally diverse settings, and part of which have been in similarly funded grant projects. One such project was the Genesee County Health Literacy Project, where disenfranchised community members were provided with health education and skills to improve their health and overall quality of life. Another project was the Colorectal Cancer (CRC) screening project which educated older African American males about the benefits of screening for CRC. Both of these projects were conducted at the University of Michigan-Flint in collaboration with local community partners.
