T ilda Shalof works in the Medical-Surgical Intensive Care Unit at the Toronto General Hospital of the University Health Network. She has twenty-five years of nursing experience in Israel, New York, and Canada. She was nominated by both her patients and peers for the Toronto Star’s prestigious Nightingale Award for Nurse of the Year in 2004.
Her first book, A Nurse’s Story: Life, Death, and In-Between in an Intensive Care Unit, was a national bestseller that received rave reviews, and has been translated into Chinese, French, and Japanese.
She is a dynamic and inspiring speaker, receiving frequent invitations to give the keynote address at professional conferences and academic centers. She has toured Canada speaking about nursing to the public and the media, and has become a passionate nursing leader.
She lives with her husband and two sons in Toronto.
