M ichael H. Scherbel, AIA is the Partner-in-Charge of Health Care design at Plunkett Raysich Architects, LLP. He leads his 50-person design studio in the visioning, planning, programming and design of new, renovated or expanded hospital, Clinic, Critical Access Hospital, Long-Term Acute Care Hospital and Center of Excellence facilities. He graduated with a Masters in Architecture from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and has over 33 years of experience; 23 years with Plunkett Raysich Architects. His award-winning designs have been recognized by his peers as well as the International Interior Design Association, American Society of Interior Designers, Healthcare Design Magazine and the American Institute of Architects. He’s an accomplished speaker having spoken at the Association of Operating Room Nurses, Society of Radiation Oncology Administrators and Wisconsin Health Care Association, Healthcare Design 08 and 09, and the Symposium on Health. Amongst his awards is the coveted VISTA award and recent 37th ranking on Interior Design’s Health-Care Giants list. He is currently working on the quantifiable measures of evidence based design and impact on creating meaningful quality improvement with reduced cost.
