Christy K. Mack

updated December 10, 2012
Christy Mack, President of the Christy and John Mack Foundation and co-Founder and President of The Bravewell CollaborativeChristy Mack, President of the Christy and John Mack Foundation, is regarded as one of the nation’s leading public advocates for the transformation of our health care system, for related broad-based public education and disease prevention programs and for the role that philanthropy must play in bringing about a healthier nation.

Ms Mack is Cofounder and President of The Bravewell Collaborative, a national community of philanthropists who work together to transform the culture and delivery of healthcare. Founded in 2002, The Bravewell Collaborative believes that by shifting the focus of the health care system to prevention, health maintenance, early intervention and patient-centered care, integrative medicine holds the power to not only transform the economic models that drive and impede our present health care system, but to also greatly improve the health of the public, which is essential to our nation’s future.

Ms. Mack is a member of the Board of Visitors for the Duke University Medical Center, and the National Group of Advisors for Duke Integrative Medicine, an initiative she helped create and then underwrote. The Mack Foundation has provided grant-making support to several highly successful demonstration projects in integrative medicine at the Pediatric Oncology Department and the Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit at New York Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Babies and Children’s Hospital. Her strong belief in the importance of professional and public education both in the field of medicine and philanthropy has also made her a generous contributor to PBS (“The New Medicine”), to post 9/11 post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) training programs and to fellowships in integrative medicine throughout the country and at the National Institute of Health.
