Dr. Hasenau has been in the nursing profession since 1968. She received her MSN/NNP in 1997 and her PhD in Nursing in 2006. As a member of Transcultural Nursing Society since 1990, she has participated in numerous workshops and conferences, receiving certification (CTN-A) in 2009.
In her practice as a neonatal practitioner, she worked with parents from many diverse populations during a crucial time in their lives as they dealt with their compromised newborns. As a nursing faculty member, she developed and continues to teach a graduate nursing course in Transcultural Nursing: Concepts and Theories. She is currently on the Board of Directors for the Transcultural Nursing Society.
Dr. Hasenau has conducted research on, and published articles regarding pain management in children and adults with a particular focus on issues on the disparities of pain management between Black and White patients.
