Dr. Evelyn A. Dogbey was appointed assistant professor of nursing at Temple University in 2005. In her current position she teaches both didactic and clinical instruction to undergraduate and graduate nursing students in the department of nursing, College of Health Professions and Social Work. Prior to this appointment, she held instructor positions at Our Lady of Lourdes School of Nursing in Camden, NJ and Temple University Hospital Episcopal School of Nursing. She also practiced as an Advanced Practice Nurse specializing in wound management.

Dr. Dogbey began her career in 1976 as a registered nurse midwife at St. James University Hospital in Leeds, UK after receiving her registered nurse diploma in Accra, Ghana and her midwifery certification in Scotland. In1982, Dr. Dogbey immigrated to Alberta, Canada, where she practiced as a registered nurse at Wetaskiwin General Hospital until 1985. It was then that she moved to Toronto, Ontario where she worked as an operating room nurse at Women’s College Hospital. She continued her career in Cleveland at Lutheran Medical Center before finally settling in the Philadelphia region.

Dr. Dogbey’s research interests include culture, work stress, health and quality of work life of nurses as well as the effects of organizational and generational differences on the nursing shortage.

Dr. Dogbey lives in Southern New Jersey with her husband and daughter and enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
