ohn Collins, MSHE, is the Project Manager of the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) grant funded, Nurse Education, Practice, and Retention project titled Developing Nurses’ Cultural Competencies: Evidence-Based and Best Practices, (July 1, 2008 to June 30, 2011, approx. $1 million) project at the University of Michigan-Flint, Department of Nursing. Mr. Collins earned his Master of Science in Health Education from the University of Michigan, and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration also from the University of Michigan (Finance and Economics).
Prior to his current position, Mr. Collins worked on another UM-Flint HRSA Nursing Workforce Diversity grant funded program aimed at preparing middle and high school students from underrepresented minority populations to pursue nursing careers, titled “University of Michigan Flint Initiatives in Nursing Diversity” (UMFIND) as an evaluation assistant.
Mr. Collins has contributed to several poster presentations in the research areas of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus among Adolescents, and Sleep Deprivation-Long Term Health Effects, as well as having completed the evaluation and statistical analysis for a recently published article by a colleague about the similar personality characteristics of Leadership and Followership among health system CEOs.
