D ina Bruyere, B.A., LL.B.h7r.
I am Ojibwe (Anishinabae kwe) from Sagkeeng First Nation, which is located within beautiful Treaty 1 and Treaty 3 territories in southern Manitoba. I grew up in Sagkeeng and graduated from the Fort Alexander High School. After completing a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Winnipeg I was a post secondary education counsellor for Sagkeeng Education Authority. As a single parent of two young boys, I began law school I997 and upon completing her Bachelor of Laws degree, articled with the Treaty Land Entitlement Committee of Manitoba and have since worked for the Southern Chiefs Organization (of Manitoba) as well as in Sagkeeng. I also taught commercial law for the University of Manitoba Distance Education, and did contract work for the Public Interest Law Centre. I was most recently employed by Manitoba Justice in the criminal law division.
I am honoured to be working in a position that has tremendous personal meaning to me, having lost loved ones to diabetes-related complications as well as having close family members living with the disease.
I live in Winnipeg with my three sons Coty, Nolan and Julian.
