C hristine undertook her nurse education in Sydney Australia, after which she travelled to and settled in the United Kingdom. Christine has been a nurse academic for the past 10 years and received her Doctorate in 2007 from the University of Sheffield. She currently teaches undergraduate nurses at the University of Manchester and supports post graduate students with an interest in older people and continuing care. Christine has extensive experience of working with older people in the health service and independent sector care homes in England and Wales. Her areas of expertise include continuing care, staff education in care homes and supporting older people with long term conditions including dementia. Christine seeks to influence both policy and practice for older people through her involvement with the national ‘My home Life’ campaign: improving quality of life for older people in care homes and the National Care Homes Research and Development Forum. Christine has authored a number of practice and academic articles including national best practice guidance on caring for older adults in an acute setting supported by the Department of Health, England. Christine is a currently a scholar of the Florence Nightingale Foundation and is regularly invited to contribute to the annual Manchester Age Debate and speak on BBC Radio Manchester.
