A nita Boles, MPA, Executive Director, brings to the Society for the Arts in Healthcare a vast knowledge of business and financial planning for nonprofit and government agencies as well as a background in both arts and healthcare. She is an experienced nonprofit executive, having served with distinction at a number of organizations: Partnership for Clear Health Communication, National Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition, National Victim Center and the Victim/Witness Assistance Unit for the United States Attorney’s Office, among others. Boles earned her bachelor’s degree in social work with a minor in art from Western Michigan University and a master’s degree in public administration from Russell Sage College, Albany, New York. She has authored, co-authored and edited numerous publications on such topics as improving community response to crime victims, vaccines and vaccine safety, oral health and pregnancy, among others. She has earned scores of awards and distinctions, including the Director’s Award from the United States Department of Justice. She has also continued creating art, including a series of landscape and nature-related paintings and drawings. Boles was born in Canada and spent some of her childhood in Ontario. She regularly returns to visit relatives and has toured several arts in healthcare programs in Toronto, London, and Windsor.
